Line Monkey MD already has what most publications spend years chasing: a clear point of view and an archive worth reading. What it doesn't have yet is a home that reads like a real publication, with an identity of its own. The goal is to give the writing that home, and to bring you and the things you're building into it quietly, the way a good magazine credits its editor, never as a personal brand and never as a corporate site.
"I want the final site to incorporate more about me and the things I'm building, while keeping the writing central and avoiding a personal-brand or corporate feel."Your brief, and the rule this proposal is built around02
The homepage direction you liked is live, and it's the starting point for everything below.
linemonkey-concept.pages.dev →Every essay gets its own plate, drawn like an angiogram, complete with a catheter and J-tip. No stock photos anywhere.
A thin line follows the reader down the page and doubles as a section map on wide screens.
Four essays in reading order, so a new reader understands the argument behind everything else.
A full essay page with a table of contents, margin notes, footnotes and a reading line.
Four parts, planned together so the site, the mark and the illustrations read as one publication.
The concept, built properly on WordPress. You keep publishing exactly as you do now; the design does the rest.
A clean, modern mark drawn from the angiogram and catheter motif, with a matching editorial wordmark for the masthead, favicon and social cards.
Early direction only. Final marks are developed and agreed in week one.
The rules that make every page, plate and post look like it came from the same publication, so the site stays consistent long after launch.
You and your work, presented the way a publication credits its editor. An editorial About page, and a quiet, woven-in note about what you're building, placed alongside the writing rather than in front of it.
Illustrative placement: an editor's masthead and a short "what I'm building" note, never a hero banner.
About three to four weeks, in three phases. Each ends with something for you to review, so there are no surprises at launch.

Hosting, domain and any premium plugin licenses stay in your name and are paid directly. The writing stays yours.
I build on a staging copy of your site. Your live site isn't touched until you approve launch.
A check-in at the end of every phase, so decisions are made early, not at the end.
Everything maps to standard WordPress. No fragile custom system, no developer dependency.
Write and publish exactly as you do now. The design takes care of how it looks.
If it all makes sense, reply and I'll send a short agreement covering the scope, timeline and terms above.
With the agreement signed and the first payment in, I start on the logo, wordmark and visual direction straight away.
Happy to do a quick call to walk through any of it before you decide.
