The opportunity

Line Monkey MD already has what most publications spend years chasing: a clear point of view and an archive worth reading. What it doesn't have yet is a home that reads like a real publication, with an identity of its own. The goal is to give the writing that home, and to bring you and the things you're building into it quietly, the way a good magazine credits its editor, never as a personal brand and never as a corporate site.

"I want the final site to incorporate more about me and the things I'm building, while keeping the writing central and avoiding a personal-brand or corporate feel."Your brief, and the rule this proposal is built around

The concept so far

The homepage direction you liked is live, and it's the starting point for everything below.

Angiogram illustrations

Every essay gets its own plate, drawn like an angiogram, complete with a catheter and J-tip. No stock photos anywhere.

The catheter line

A thin line follows the reader down the page and doubles as a section map on wide screens.

A Start Here path

Four essays in reading order, so a new reader understands the argument behind everything else.

Long-form reading

A full essay page with a table of contents, margin notes, footnotes and a reading line.

Scope of work

Four parts, planned together so the site, the mark and the illustrations read as one publication.

PartA

Website

The concept, built properly on WordPress. You keep publishing exactly as you do now; the design does the rest.

  • Homepage editorial redesign
  • Long-form reading template: table of contents, margin notes, footnotes
  • Start Here path for new readers
  • Topic sections and a year-based archive
  • Fully responsive, tuned for phones
  • Built on standard WordPress, no custom system to maintain
  • Newsletter signup placed without pop-ups
  • Keep-or-replace recommendation for your current theme
PartB

Logo & wordmark

A clean, modern mark drawn from the angiogram and catheter motif, with a matching editorial wordmark for the masthead, favicon and social cards.

Starting point · wordmark
Starting point · mark

Early direction only. Final marks are developed and agreed in week one.

PartC

Visual & graphic system

The rules that make every page, plate and post look like it came from the same publication, so the site stays consistent long after launch.

  • Per-essay illustration approach, with a plate for every essay
  • The catheter line motif and how it's used
  • Color, type and spacing system
  • Reusable components: cards, pull quotes, notes, callouts
  • Topic colors mapped to your categories
  • A one-page guide so any future post stays on-system
PartD

About & what you're building

You and your work, presented the way a publication credits its editor. An editorial About page, and a quiet, woven-in note about what you're building, placed alongside the writing rather than in front of it.

Illustrative placement: an editor's masthead and a short "what I'm building" note, never a hero banner.

  • Editorial About page, written in your voice
  • "What I'm building" module for your ventures
  • Contextual mentions inside relevant essays
  • No personal-brand hero and no corporate pages

How we'll work

Staging first

I build on a staging copy of your site. Your live site isn't touched until you approve launch.

You review each phase

A check-in at the end of every phase, so decisions are made early, not at the end.

Standard WordPress

Everything maps to standard WordPress. No fragile custom system, no developer dependency.

You keep publishing

Write and publish exactly as you do now. The design takes care of how it looks.

07

Next steps

1

Say yes to the scope

If it all makes sense, reply and I'll send a short agreement covering the scope, timeline and terms above.

2

Kick off this week

With the agreement signed and the 50% advance in, I start on the logo, wordmark and visual direction straight away.

3

Or talk it through first

Happy to do a quick call to walk through any of it before you decide.

Thank you,
Kavi.
